Nonstop Music Mixes for Any Fast-Paced Workout
"Square One" (150 BPM) - Speedweeks Mix #1 Online
The first of seven mixes in 14 days of Podrunner Speedweeks begins with a solid, steadily building, fairly percussive mix that peaks halfway through with the Weekend World Remix of Francesco Farfa's classic “The Search.”
>New sponsor: Say hello to the U.S. Navy, folks!
>New theme music: A killer track composed for Podrunner by Maureen Halderson, who composed the original Podrunner theme. Maureen will also be providing the new ending music that will go up after Speedweeks.
>New foundation mixes: With the archive gone, Speedweeks will quickly build you a new set of mixes on the zeros and fives.
Beatport Playlist
The Original, High-Quality, Non-Mixed Tracks Featured in Podrunner
The playlist for the first Podrunner Speedweeks mix at Beatport.com features great progressive house from Casa Flava ("Eterna"), house from Peter Presta ("Work My House"), funky tech house from Slim Yelow ("Purpledickular Fonix"), and more.
Groovelectric
Welcome to the New Old Funk
After intensive weight-lifting sessions with a top Hollywood trainer, late-night Jeet Kune Do training with world masters, and entire tubs of protein powder, Groovelectric went back to that very public beach where that big bully pushed its smiley face into the sand in front of its horrified girlfriend, and Groovelectric found the very same bully whaling on some other poor, defenseless podcast, so Groovelectric called him out and took care o' business, yessir. That's right. Groovelectric is the Kid, now, baby. Groovelectric will be flexing its newfound self-esteem in a new mix next week.
Plays in Vegas
I'm spinning opening and closing sets at The Joint @ Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas for Blogworld Expo's Opening Night Party. on Thursday, Nov. 8. I'm going to record this one, and if all goes well, I'll put it up as a Groovelectric mix. If all goes very well, I'll put the whole thing up as an exclusive download for Run Time subscribers. Who's yer buddy?John Gatch is Wearing Us Out
John Gatch of the Two Johns Podcast for cyclers recently sent us a hint as to why it's called "two johns." (Actually they just sponsored the port-o-potties at an event). We're just delighted to see John proclaiming two things that make life better.By the way, we're thinking of adding Podrunner and Groovelectric hoodies to our very exclusive (which means really small) clothing line. We need a minimum number to do a run, so let us know if you're interested!
The More Things Change
The More They $tay the $ame
The response to the news of our new sponsorship has been 100% positive, and I want to thank everybody for their support. As you'll see when you listen to "Square One," despite a lot of behind-the-scenes shuffling, things aren't really all that different. Which is kinda how we all want it. New theme music, a new sponsor that doesn't step on your zone, and a solid hour of new music that's exactly like what we've been serving up for about 20 months now.
Sponsorship is extremely wecome, and helps us keep the mixes coming at you and work on growth down the line, but at present it doesn't even meet our music-licensing overhead. I strongly believe in being as open as possible about how I run this little ship of mine (okay, these two little ships), so I want to explain that I haven't removed the "Donation" page from the website or the links from this newsletter for one simple reason: Until sponsorship does cover our expenses — and we're confident it will — we still need your help bringing out Podrunner every week and Groovelectric every other week. I've detailed the very involved process of creating these podcasts in a previous newletter. What's changed now is the music licensing (it's a lot) and the fact the Podrunner and Groovelectric are now pretty much a full-time job for me.
So we still sorta resemble NPR in that, to keep doing what we do, we need help from companies and from listeners. Believe me, when sponsorship covers all of it and that "Donate" link can come down, you'll be the first to know!
