ANNOUNCING PODRUNNER INTERVALS
New Podcast Launches February 1, 2008
Podrunner: Intervals is a new podcast of varied-BPM music mixes for interval training. "First Day to 5K," the first 14 mixes, take you from absolute beginner to 5K runner in nine weeks! P:I will feature sets for beginning, intermediate, and experienced levels, as well as sets for 10K and half-marathon training
Podrunner: Intervals will be produced by me, and hosted and mixed by DJ Beatsmith, the only DJ to have guest-hosted Podrunner (he mixed the popular "153 BPM - Hotfoot").
Podrunner: Intervals will be available free starting February 1 from iTunes or most podcast directories, or directly from djsteveboy.com or the Run Time newsletter. Music for P:I will come from Beatport, and we'll link to the original tracks.
Excited as we are, the Red Robot needs your help to succeed! Please tell your friends and gym buddies about Podrunner: Intervals, and post about it on any athletic forums or groups you belong to. If you know anyone whose New Year's Resolution is to get fit, P:I is your present to them!

"Airspeed" (161 BPM)
This smooth, driving mix intensifies over the hour with a classic late-90s trance and progressive-house sound that doesn't let up until around minute 50.
The last Podrunner of 2008 is also Podrunner Mix #100! We haven't missed a week since we started in February 2006. Great work ethic? Type A overachievement? No social life? All of the above? What's clear is there's clear benefit to some obsessive-compulsive behaviors
Beatport Playlist
The Original, High-Quality, Non-Mixed Tracks Featured in Podrunner
This week, the Podrunner playlist on Beatport.com offers great new progressive house and trance tracks with a classic late-90s, synth-driven sound. Jerome Sydenham gives his remix of "Just for Today" from breakbeat wizards Hybrid; Solaris brings us the Phazon Dub of David Bowie's classic "Shout," Marcello Castelli's "Just Be" is given a reworking with the Kermit Remix, and Mikas' "Spirit Emotion" is given a gorgeous re-edit on the Division 7 Mix.

Welcome to the New Old Funk
"Going Places" - Special Two-Hour Mix!
A little voice inside me said just hit "record" and play, so I did. Two hours, no set list, no planning beyond the next track. And came up with a journey that gets huge, dips, gets huge again, and comes home with an epiphanic closing sequence.
I've learned to listen to that little voice.

Who Says You Can't Wear this Music Out?
We're finally able to order a small run of Groovelectric pullover hoodies! These are high-quality Hanes fleecy-interior hoodies with the Groovelectric smileyphone in blazing yellow on the front.
Note that this is a limited-availability item! Demand for these has not been strong, so right now I am treating this print run as a one-shot. Another way of looking at it is that this is an extremely limited-edition Groovelectric item! You can order through Sunday, January 12, and after that the order form will disappear — so if you want a very cool Groovelectric hoodie, don't wait!
Hoodies should ship by Jan. 23.
Re Podrunner hoodies: I've had some test runs printed and am not happy with the results. The image has a lot of colors and prints very dark. We're working on it!
O Brave New Year
That Has Such Podcasts In It!
2007 was momentous for Podrunner & Groovelectric. Podrunner stayed in iTunes' Top 4 music and Top 50 overall, was named one of iTunes' Year's Best Podcasts, debuted on top of the Zune Marketplace, saw the beginnings of media coverage, and acquired its first sponsor. Groovelectric rose to iTunes' Top 50 music podcasts, debuted #2 on the Zune Marketplace, and doubled its listenership. 2008 is looking even better. And talk about yer planets aligning! The last Podrunner of 2007 is also mix #100, in which we're announcing a new podcast, Podrunner: Intervals. There's a lot more in the works, too!
New Year's Eve has become a very big deal for me. My first date with my wife was to see John Digweed spin at Giant on NYE; our first kiss was at midnight. The next NYE Digweed spun again in the same place, and at midnight I asked Maureen to marry me. The NYE after that Digweed spun at Giant Village in downtown LA in front of about 12,000 people, and Mo and I got married in front of the stage at midnight. The next year Giant was rained out at the last minute, but the next NYE we won tickets and hotel nights to see Digweed spin at Giant Village for our anniversary. This NYE Digweed & Sasha are spinning at Together As One in Los Angeles. Guess where I'm gonna be?
I hope that this has been a good year for you. I hope that the next one is looking even better. Some of you have only recently found these podcasts, and some of you have hung in there from day one. To all of you, my heartfelt thanks for your downloads, support, and emails; for telling others about these mixes — and for putting them on top and keeping them there throughout a very eventful year. I wish you all the best for 2008, and I hope that midnight this December 31 finds you thinking back and looking forward.
